SM City Bicutan Turns Up the Volume With Battle of the Bands

Homegrown music took center stage at SM City Bicutan as local bands went head-to-head in its Battle of the Bands on September 26, bringing an afternoon of live performances, original sounds, and plenty of energy to the mall’s Events Center.

Each competing group brought its own musical identity to the stage, from powerful vocals and guitar-driven performances to crowd-pleasing sets that had mallgoers stopping to watch. More than a competition, the event gave emerging Filipino musicians a space to perform in front of a live audience and put their artistry in the spotlight.

The competition also came with prizes aimed at supporting the musicians beyond the stage. The champion received ₱20,000 worth of SM Gift Certificates and two Lazer Music guitars, while the first runner-up took home ₱15,000 in SM Gift Certificates, one Lazer Music guitar, and two guitar straps. The second and third runners-up received ₱10,000 and ₱5,000 worth of SM Gift Certificates respectively, along with four guitar straps each.

With audiences gathering around the stage throughout the afternoon, Battle of the Bands showed how community spaces can become platforms for local creative talent—giving musicians the chance to be heard, connect with new listeners, and keep the Filipino live music scene playing loud.
