It Started With a Lip Gloss: Danyca Evangelista's Journey Into the Beauty Industry

From creating glam and avant-garde makeup looks to launching her first lip gloss collection, Danyca Evangelista is exploring entrepreneurship through a beauty brand inspired by the women closest to her.

Danyca Evangelista did not start Danykosmetics with a detailed business plan, an investor meeting, or a big launch strategy. She was simply looking at her makeup collection when a thought crossed her mind: “Why don’t I just make my own?”
And just like that, she decided to explore the idea of creating a beauty brand.
“Okay, girl. You said you’re going to make a makeup brand. Now what?” she remembers thinking.
As a makeup artist, Danyca has explored different styles, from everyday glam to bold, artistic avant-garde looks. Her experience experimenting with makeup eventually sparked an interest in developing her own products, beginning with something she personally loved: lip gloss.
But she wanted her first collection to have a story behind it.

Instead of choosing random shade names, Danyca introduced Katherine, MariaFe, Lila, Kaila, and Kasandra, five lip gloss shades named after some of the most important women in her life.
“I wanted the first collection to represent the women who inspired me,” she shared.
It was her way of celebrating the people who influenced her while giving Danykosmetics a personal identity from the beginning.
For Danyca, beauty has always been closely connected to confidence. She enjoys seeing how something as simple as getting ready can change the way a woman feels about herself.
“Makeup shouldn’t be about changing who you are,” she explained. “It should be about bringing out the version of yourself that you want to show the world.”

With this philosophy, she hopes Danykosmetics will appeal to different kinds of makeup lovers, from those who enjoy full glam to women who prefer effortless looks or are only beginning to experiment with cosmetics.
Still in the early stages of building her brand, Danyca considers her debut lip gloss collection an encouraging first step. Seeing people connect with the shades and their personal stories helped her recognize the potential of what she had started.
She has also introduced the “Dany Girls,” a name for the women who support Danykosmetics and its journey. Beyond being customers, she hopes they can become a community that celebrates confidence, individuality, and one another.

As for what comes next, Danyca has several products on her wish list, including lip liners, lip oils, cream lipsticks, and possibly a lip kit. She also hopes to eventually develop a signature product that customers will immediately associate with Danykosmetics.
For now, however, she is taking things one step at a time. While she has ideas for the brand's future, she is still learning what it takes to turn a creative interest into a business.
And perhaps that is what makes her journey relatable. Danyca is not claiming to have figured everything out, nor is she presenting Danykosmetics as a finished success story.
She simply had an idea while looking at her makeup, decided to pursue it, and found herself creating something that reflects the women and interests closest to her.
Sometimes, a new chapter begins with nothing more than asking, “Why not?”
