The Filipina tennis star defeated Czech player Nikola Bartůňková, her former doubles partner, in a three-set final, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5. The win gave Eala her second WTA 125 crown and marked a strong finish to a tournament run that tested her patience, composure, and ability to reset under pressure.

Before reaching the final, Eala also survived a difficult semifinal against Swiss qualifier Rebeka Masarova. Their match was interrupted twice by rain, with one delay lasting more than two hours. Eala eventually closed it out, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, after battling through a momentum-shifting match that forced her to stay sharp despite the stop-and-start rhythm.

After the semifinal, Eala said she was “really happy” to reach her first final of the year, calling the match a tough battle where both players had to adjust repeatedly. She also shared that she felt ready for the final, saying the semifinal had been a great test.

That confidence carried into Sunday, where Eala completed the job against Bartůňková. After dropping the first set, she fought back to take the next two and seal one of the biggest wins of her season so far.

For Eala, the Birmingham Open title is more than another trophy. It is a reminder of her growing ability to handle pressure, recover from difficult moments, and keep building her place on the international tennis stage.
